Hello, Lebanon. It’s me, your friendly Green Patriot. Did you watch the news tonight? If you did, then you’re already aware of the fact that the government is planning on imposing a new tax on diesel fuel, or what we call “mezoot.” Because, naturally, the amount of price hikes on diesel over the past few years aren’t enough. It’s not like we aren’t already paying double for our gas, or double for our cab fare, or more for electricity and generator power. Not at all.

Lebanon, I don’t know how much of this we can handle. “Red diesel fuel”, the less expensive kind that most average citizens use, is now cut off the market. As such, citizens are trying either forced to buy “Green diesel fuel”, usually used for industrial purposes, or buying diesel fuel through the black market, but that’s unreliable at best.

Lebanon, at this point in time, we are paying $100 for a minimum of 5 amperes of generator power, knowing that this is too is going to go up shortly. We will also be paying more for electricity, and more for diesel used for other purposes (cars, etc.)?  Does it make sense to pay even more for these resources, which are distributed in an unreliable manner, and then get sick because of the pollution they cause?

If you ask me, I think it’s time to switch to cleaner, reusable, and in the long run less expensive, forms of energy. It’s time for us to think about solar power as a serious alternative. After all, the sun comes out reliably, it’s clean, and once you have installed your solar apparatus, is for free. It pays for itself in five years and then you start saving money after that. Perhaps in even less time, as the price of fuel-based sources of energy keep going up. It’s time for us to be smart about our finances, our health, and our environment. Let’s invest in solar energy. We can do it, Lebanon!!
